Girls Football - Jan 24

Last Wednesday we took part in the Connect Cluster Girls Football Festival. We were really excited to go but nervous after the boy’s victory two weeks before.

Our first match was against St Andrew’s. They were a brilliant team. We managed to score first! We kept making shots. However, on the break St Andrew’s scored.

Our second match was against Belfield. We played really well and managed to score two goals. We won this match 2-0.

Our third match was another tough game against Norden. We conceded a goal but managed to pull it back with a fantastic goal by Fatima!

Our next match was Hamer. The Hamer girls were great and managed to sneak a goal past our amazing goalkeeper – Maida! We lost this match 1-0.

Even though we lost a match we were still determined! Our final match was against Lowerplace. We were tired at this point but we pushed on! Maida saved many excellent shots but we ended up losing this match 1-0.

After a quick break it was the results. We were all nervous! Mr Kean announced them and we were delighted that we had come third!

We worked so well together, especially after we didn’t have much training. We showed excellent sportsmanship and most importantly had an amazing time.

We’d like to thank Mr Kean for supporting us and helping run the event. We’d also like to thank Mr Wild for encouraging and helping us.

UKS2 Football winners

The winners of the Connect UKS2 Football Tournament - Spotland Primary School

Last Wednesday, we played in a Connect Football tournament at The Soccer Factory. There were 8 teams: Belfield, Hamer, Heybrook, Lowerplace, Marland Hill, St Andrew’s, Norden, and us.

We had to play each team once, and each game was 6 minutes long. When we saw the fixtures we saw we were playing 6 games in a row. If you do the maths, that is 36 minutes playing almost non-stop.

We decided that this would not be a problem for us, because we were ready for the challenge. Two of our best games were against Belfield, we beat them 2-0, and Lowerplace, who we beat 4-1.

We made a great comeback against Norden. We were losing against them 2-0 and came back to draw 2-2, with Haadi and Ayaan scoring after an excellent assist from Zain.

It was an excellent team performance from everyone, Mehraj made some excellent saves and got two assists, an excellent achievement for a goalkeeper. Haider scored 6 goals, Ayaan scored 5, Haadi, Zain and Rakeal scored 1. Hamza and Abeel, were excellent in defence and saved countless goals being scored by other teams.

We couldn’t wait for the final results to come in – we were overjoyed to find out that we…

FINISHED IN FIRST PLACE.

We would like to say thank you to, Mr Wild and Mr Kean for all the coaching, and the taxi driver who took us to the Soccer Factory.
