Our History intent is to:
  • Help pupils gain a secure knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world, while ensuring that it is linked to their own experiences and the local area.
  • For children to make links between current and previous learning.
  • To encourage children to be curious and inquisitive about the past and how it has shaped their lives today. They are able to develop their critical thinking skills in order to make their own judgements and conclusions based on different historical sources.
  • For children are able to lead their learning by making their own interpretations about historical events based on their previous knowledge.
  • Teachers use the long term plans for history to make comparisons between historical periods previously taught, developing children’s chronological knowledge and understanding from the Stone Age to present day.
