Child Protection
Child Protection and Safeguarding is EVERYONE'S responsibility. We work tirelessly to ensure that families have all the support that they need, but unfortunatly familes can sometimes need extra support from Children's Social Care and partner agencies.
Let us dispell a myth! Children's Social Care and Social Workers are not there to remove children, quite the opposite. We have worked with many Social Workers and families and they have received fantastic support, which has enabled them to be better parents and their children are fully protected.
See below for information about the different types of support avaliable.
Child Protection Plan
A child protection plan is a plan drawn up by the Local Authority. It sets out how the child can be kept safe, how things can be made better for the family and what support they will need. As a parent, you should be told: the reason for the plan.
Private Fostering
Private fostering is the term used when someone who is not a parent or a 'close relative' (eg. great aunt, cousin, mum's friend or a neighbour) is looking after a child or young person under the age of 16 (under 18 if they are disabled) for 28 days or more in their own home.
If you think you are untaking a private fostering arrangement, please contact the the Early Help and Safeguarding Hub (EHASH) by calling 0300 303 0440 or emailing EHASH@rochdale.gov.uk You can also write to:
